Question Period Reform Call To Action

I think that is evidence of a growing disconnect between our democratic institutions and Canadians and I think we need to close that gap by beginning to reform Parliament, which begins with question period."

Mission/History



Canadians Advocating Political Participation (CAPP) is a national grassroots network of citizens committed to improving the state of democracy in our country.

Forged out of the public reaction to the prorogation of Parliament on December 30, 2009, our members come from all political parties and none, and from every walk of life. While we come from a wide range of backgrounds CAPP's core values and mission is non-partisan.

Through education and active engagement in democratic activities local chapters of CAPP strive to encourage Canadians to take ownership of their communities.

We believe the true power of a democracy lies in a well informed and actively engaged citizenry.

CAPP has three primary goals:

  1. To defend and restore Canadian democracy;
  2. To foster dialogue and awareness of current political issues;
  3. To encourage greater democratic participation by all Canadians.

"Canadians Advocating Political Participation" ( CAPP) est un réseau national de base formé par des citoyens qui sont engagés à améliorer l'état de la démocratie dans notre pays.

Se faire oublier de la réaction du public à la propagation du parlement, le 30 décembre, 2009, nos membres sont venus de tous les partis politiques, et de tous les horizons de la vie. Alors que nous venons d'un large éventail de backrounds, les valeurs fondamentales et la mission de CAPP ne sont pas partisanes.

Par l'éducation et l'engangement active aux processus démocratiques, les sections locales du CAPP s'efforcent de rendre le pouvoir démocratique aux Canadiens d'un océan à l'autre.

Nous croyons que le vrai pouvoir de la démocratie se trouve dans un endroit bien éclairé et qui réside dans une population bien informée et engagée. Il est undoutable que la démocratie ne peut exister que dans la participation active des citoyens.

CAPP a trois objectifs principaux:

  1. Développer et rétablir la démocratie canadienne
  2. Favoriser le dialogue et la connaissance de l'actualité politique
  3. Encourager une plus grande participation démocratique de tous les Canadiens.
